In June, we read "Piggybook." This is a story about a mother who works really hard around the house while her family goes to work and school. We discussed chores and cleaning verbs: vacuum, iron, dust, wash, sweep, mop, etc.
The students played a card game similar to "Go Fish." They would choose a friend and ask "Can you _________ for me?" For example, "Can you vacuum the room for me?" or "Can you iron the clothes for me?"
If their friend had a card that matched their question they would have to give it to them and say "Yes, I can."
If their friend did not have a card that matched their question, they would say "I'm sorry, I busy." Then, the person who asked would have to pick up a card.
